Dino6 How Dredging Works

DREDGING

Iowa Dredging uses a Dino6 sediment removal system. It is a dredge that creates a vacuum that sucks up and pumps out unwanted sediment and debris.

A Dino6 dredge is a compact barge boat equipped with a 6″ submersible pump and a 66″ wide cutter head. An operator works from the floating platform. The operator lowers the boom assembly, on the end of which are an agitator and pump used to loosen sediment and safely transport it away.

This process can be used to:

  • CREATE WATERWAYS
  • REOPENING CHANNELS
  • RESTORING SHORELINES
  • MAINTAINING ECOSYSTEMS
  • GATHERING CONST. MATERIALS
  • REMOVING TRASH & DEBRIS
  • RECONFIGURING WATERWAYS
  • INCREASING WATERWAY DEPTH
  • MINING FOR METALS & MORE

The compact dredge was developed to be uniquely portable to perform jobs inaccessible to larger dredges. Weighing approximately 4,000 pounds, the dredge can access retention ponds, golf courses, sediment lagoons, home association lakes, and marinas without disrupting ongoing activities.
